by astelle on Thursday, January 23, 2014 3:53 PM
On my recent tip to New York (NY), I jumped in a cab / taxi from JFK to Manhattan and wondered how much I should tip the cab / taxi driver. I asked around, asked the cabbie and this is what found out.

Leaving Portland's Rain and Heading to a Hawaiian Tropical Paradise - Maui

by astelle on Thursday, March 28, 2013 9:19 AM
Big Beach, Makena, Maui, HawaiiWhile I fully admit I am not a travel or Maui expert, I did just get back to Portland, OR and I figured my experiences were worth sharing. First off, if you haven’t flown Hawaiian Air, you are missing out! As flying has become more and more tedious, I think Hawaiian Air has done the best at keeping up their customer service. They have direct flights to and from Portland, OR’s PDX daily.

Benny Bego - Hood River - Aaron StelleThe Benny-Bego Adventures Ep 1 chronicles the road trip I, Aaron Stelle, took in my 1993 Winnebego Warrior nicknamed 'The Benny-Bego' or 'Benny'. In this episode I take off through the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. I have Chamea Lewis along for the ride and we first stopped in Hood River, OR. After staying just outside of town for the first night, we moved on to Maryhill, WA.

SuperJet Coffee Beer Wine Portland Pearl DistrictAs a person that works in sales, I'm always looking for a good spot to meet clients or get work done.  SuperJet Coffee, Beer, Wine, and Cheese Cafe in Portland's Pearl District does this quite well.  With free wifi, a friendly staff, great food, and plenty of table space, both your clients and you will love it.  Throw in the wine selection and the patio which sits on Jamison Square Park in the Portland's Pearl District and you can't miss!

Tuominen Yard at Hilken Community Stadium - Concordia University - Portland, OR

Tuominen Yard at Concordia University Hilken Community Stadium - Portland, ORIt seems like just yesterday that Jarkko Tuominen had accepted a new position and was moving back to Portland from the East Coast.  All of the boys were excited to start reliving the good ol' days prior to Jarkko leaving.  Unfortunately this excitement was short lived and Jarkko was tragically taken in September 2005. However, Jarkko's legacy has carried on through the Tuominen family and Concordia University.  Tuominen Yard at Hilken Community Community Stadium on the Concordia University campus in Portland, OR is a great reminder of the impact Jarkko left on the world.

The View from the Sapphire Room - Indigo @ Twelve West - Portland Oregon

Indigo Building - Saphire Room - Portland, ORAs both a resident of the Pearl District in Portland, OR and as a Realtor, I have had the chance to go into nearly every building in the Pearl District.  The buildings all have their own vibe and style, and vary from very simple to quite extravagant.  Over the last few months I've had several opportunities to go to the Indigo @ Twelve West which is technically not in the Pearl District, but it's right across the street.  This building contains high end apartments and while the theater room, gym, lobby, etc. are all pretty cool, the biggest selling point for me is the Saphire Room.  On the roof of the Indigo Building there is a swanky common room known as the Saphire Room, and it is surrounded by a beautiful patio with 360 degree views of the city.  The patio has built in gas fire pits to keep you warm, bbq's, and even covered areas making it usable 365 days a year.

Affordable Lunch in Portland's Pearl District - Silk & Mio Sushi

Mio Sushi - portland pearl districtSince I often times meet clients for lunch in the Pearl District, I'm always looking for a good deal.  For me a good deal is decent or good food where I can get away with spending $10 for lunch including tip.  If I can make that happen, I'm a pretty happy guy.  Lately I always seem to gravitate toward 2 places down here.

Portland Oregon - Not Good With Snow!

by astelle on Friday, March 23, 2012 9:33 AM
Portland Snow Fall March 2012It has been a very interesting 18 or so hours in Portland.  Starting about 8pm yesterday the large wet snowflakes started coming down.  As a native Oregonian, I realize how rare snow fall is at the floor of the Willamette Valley, where Portland sits.  So, when when the snow starts to fall I, like a lot of Portlanders, feel a rush of childhood enthusiasm.

Mellow Mushroom in the Pearl District of Portland

by astelle on Saturday, March 17, 2012 9:00 AM
As a resident of the Pearl District in Portland, OR, I've been waiting for a pizza place I can get excited about.  After last night, I think Mellow Mushroom fits the bill!  I'd driven by the location a few times, but had no idea what it was.  After talking to a friend from South Carolina I found out it was a pizza place, and according to her it was, 'The best thing ever!'.  So, I strapped on my walking shoes, walked down to Mellow Mushroom, and gave it a try.

Lloyd District - Portland, OR - QWIKI

Portland Lloyd DistrictIf you haven't seen, it's a pretty cool way to add content to your website.  When I was working as a real estate agent, I was spending a lot of time working on ways to establish and brand myself in the Lloyd District. If I was able to embed this FREE technology into my website, it would have been a really cool landing page I could have sent all of my potential clients to.
