Aaron's 2 Cents for the Second Half of April 2013 in Portland, OR. This edition features the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, and Portland's Largest Garage Sale. I also touch on a great way to donate to the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
I am a big fan of stand up comedy, and it's fun to see a variety of people at different venues. The Bridgetown Comedy Festival
gives you exactly that opportunity. It runs from April 18-21st and if you visit their website
you can see the venues, the comics, and get tickets.
If you're looking to take the family somewhere for a photo opportunity, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival
is a great place to start. There are rows of beautiful tulips and it is fun for all ages. For all of the info on the festival go to their website.
Portland's Largest Garage Sale
is also happening this Saturday the 20th at the Portland Expo Center. It's your chance to see 100's of garage sales all at one place! For all of the info go to their website.
Lastly, The Boston Marathon Bombing is on the hearts and minds of many Americans and people are looking for a way to help out. Unfortunately there are always bad apples that try to take advantage of situations with this by running SCAMS. If you truly do want to donate to the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing, check out The One Fund - Boston
which was setup by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino. These funds should go directly to the people that need the money most, the victims of the attack.
In general, if you want to see if a charity is legit I ALWAYS go to Charity Navigator
which will tell you if the chairty is legit and how much of the money actually goes to the cause they are supposed to be helping. You can also go to the Better Business Bureau Charity Section at www.bbb.org/charity
