The Benny-Bego Adventures Ep 1 chronicles the road trip I, Aaron Stelle, took in my 1993 Winnebego Warrior nicknamed 'The Benny-Bego' or 'Benny'. In this episode I take off through the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. I have Chamea Lewis along for the ride and we first stopped in Hood River, OR. After staying just outside of town for the first night, we moved on to Maryhill, WA.
Maryhill State Park is a great spot to camp as it has tent sites, RV sites with hookups, a boat launch, and most importantly it is right on the Columbia River. For more information on Maryhill State Park or to make reservations go to their website.
After a 5 minute drive, we stopped in at the Stonehenge Memorial
to take a look around.
5 minutes down SR-14 from Stonehenge is the Maryhill Museum of Modern Art.
The views up down down the Columbia River Gorgefrom the Maryhill Museum are breathtaking!
Lastly, we stopped in at the Maryhill Winery
. We lucked out as it was the weekend of the Spring Release at Maryhill so they had live music, a hot dog roast, Bocce Ball games, and of course delicious tastings. The winery was actually a really good value in my opinion as it was $5 for 7 separate tastings. I actually liked several of their wines. The 2011 Winemakers Red, 2011 Sauvignon Blanc, and their 2009 Zinfandel Reserve all hit the spot for me. To purchase their wine go to their online store
. They also have concerts on the property which I will definitely be checking out.
So if you're looking for a quick overnight trip with multiple options for entertainment and a beautiful view, I'd suggest Maryhill. There is Maryhill State Park, Stonehenge, The Maryhill Museum of Modern Art, and The Maryhill Winery all within about 10 minutes of each other. Check out the video above to see the pictures.
