Since I often times meet clients for lunch in the Pearl District, I'm always looking for a good deal. For me a good deal is decent or good food where I can get away with spending $10 for lunch including tip. If I can make that happen, I'm a pretty happy guy. Lately I always seem to gravitate toward 2 places down here.
Today I met a friend and mortgage broker at Silk for their tasty Pho. For some reason I end up getting the same 2 things over and over again. The pho ga, and the pho bo are both wonderful depending on what you're in the mood for. The pho ga is chicken, and the pho bo is beef. If you like Vietnamese food, this is a great way to spend $10 or $11 including tip and have a great lunch. Silk is located on the corner of 10th and Glisan in the heart of Portland's Pearl District. My other favorite place to grab lunch in the Pearl District is Mio Sushi. Now these are located everywhere, but the one that I can easily walk to is on NW Hoyt between 13th and 14th. The staff is always really friendly, and the service has been excellent. Once again, I have not tried anywhere near their whole menu, but I choose the teriyaki chicken or the spicy chicken bento combinations. This is a good amount of food, and for about $10 you'll be out the door. Not too shabby in my book. Here is Mio Sushi's website: http://www.miosushi.com/
